Who is Hosting your Website?

With web hosting you get what you pay for in terms of location, functionality and security.  There's an abundance of cheap hosting based in the US if you don't mind your visitors waiting for your pages to be sent across the Pacific and you don't mind having to request support at 2am so you can catch someone.  Some web developers "resell" cheap and other web hosting providers plans for small margins, the wheels fall of this when you need technical support because generally they still need to refer your questions on to their supplier. Of course, free, open source applications will usually be cheap to host because there's no software costs for the hosting providers and they DON'T have to support the applications hosted on them.
